For many decades, the Moor Mud Baths complex was unique as the last intact resort from the latter half of the famous Waukesha Springs Era. The hotel, originally known as the Grand View Health Resort with adjoining Moor Mud Baths, first opened to the public in 1911.
At its zenith, the hotel and health spa boasted a fine dining room, golf course (which is still operated by Waukesha County), horseback riding stables, a spring house, swimming pool, tennis and croquet courts, rec room, parlor, and solarium. The hotel originally contained 30 rooms, but as popularity and demand increased, expanded to 200.
After the hotel closed in 1959, the building was briefly occupied by a seminary and co-educational college before being converted into county administrative offices. In 2022, the Waukesha Common Council voted in favor of demolishing the local landmark, while agreeing to preserve both the springhouse and golf course clubhouse on the grounds for the next 10 years.
