SUMMARY:November 2025 Lunch and Learn- The Spanish-American War and Waukesha's 4th Regiment Company A
DESCRIPTION:This presentation shares the story of Waukesha’s 4th Regiment Company A and its role in the Spanish-American War. Through photographs\, letters\, and local records\, it highlights the personal experiences of soldiers and the impact their service had on the Waukesha community. Attendees will discover how national history unfolded through local lives\, connecting broader themes of duty and identity to the people and places of Waukesha at the turn of the 20th century. \nZac Dickhut is the Curator at the Waukesha County Historical Society and Museum. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from St. Norbert College and a master’s degree in Public History with a Certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Zac has worked with several Wisconsin museums and historical organizations\, including the Waupun Historical Society\, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum\, and the Fond du Lac Historical Society. DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited\n \nThanks for joining us to meet our new Executive Director and celebrate the opening of our exhibit\, “Freedom & Fashion: Waukesha Women Step Out in the 1920s.” Peter Zehren brings a myriad of experience from public radio to health-based advocacy organizations. He has been blessed by the Dalai Llama and has interviewed Gloria Steinem. \nWaukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly and Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow both gave remarks. And the impact of a new Institute of Museum and Library Services grant was presented by former Executive Director Nicola Ciurro. \nRefreshments will be served \nThe Fashion and Freedom exhibit highlights how clothing reflects the changes Waukesha women were experiencing in the 1920s. The new freedom and openness of society and the struggles facing the times as well. \nThe event is free and open to the public.\nNovember 12th\, 5-6:30pm\n101 W.
